Can you get a hardship license for having a job while both parents?
An underage Texan may apply for a hardship driver's license for one of three reasons; failure or refusal to issue the license will result in unusual economic hardship for the family of the applicant or the license is necessary due to the illness of a family member of the applicant or the applicant is enrolled in a vocational education program which requires a driver's license for participation. Texas Department of Public Safety form # DL-77 is available as a downloadable .pdf file from the agency's website. It is the necessary form to make application. You must complete the application form, write a detailed description of all the driving the minor will need to do, why someone else cannot drive the minor and how not having this license causes economic hardship to the minor's family. The applicant must complete an approved driver's ed course and both the applicant and a parent or guardian must sign the application in front of a notary as their sworn testimony that everything in the app, including the explanation for need and economic hardship, is true.
